SUNDAY NOTE
~ In this mornings news they said that gonzo journalist Hunter Thompsons request that his ashes be shot out of a cannon is being derailed by the lack of a cannon. Our own Charlie Cannonball Smithgall could be a hero here. Come on, Charlie, offer up a cannon for Hunter.
SATURDAY NOTES
~ In my list of coming items under Friday Notes, I forgot to include The Real Smart Story, The Klan chapter from the series, Tribune Days, and another excerpt from Charlies Promise. They are all coming soon.
~ I wanted to point out again, that all of the legal paperwork in the case of Holzinger v. Holzinger (an inch thick) and the testimony before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania is nothing other than an attempt by my parents to keep the case from going before a jury of their peers.
FRIDAY NOTES
~ A brief description of the appeal in front of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania is below these notes. It will take the Court three to six months to issue a decision on the appeal in Holzinger v. Holzinger. So what will this website be doing? Coming this weekend, there will be another look at the Cortney Fry case. The above box has gone to thirty-nine days. Is there any hope of finding the killer?
~ Coming next week, renewed efforts to bring in outside help to solve this perplexing murder and protect the citizens of Lancaster County. There is, after all, a killer on the loose.
~ The Lancaster Lynching Twenty Years Later story will begin in two weeks.
~ We will revisit the Heather Marie Nunn murder case where yet another killer is on the loose.
~ I will delve into how my parents kept their incestuous family a secret and how they continue to exercise complete control over at least one of their children. What every therapist has asked me is, How could you think this was a normal family? The answer to that question is extremely long and complex. My first therapist, Martha, once listed off some of the traits of a normal family in a response to a request from me. When she got done I asked, You mean there are really families like that? She said, Yes.
~ Im also going to discuss fear in regard to the above. Because what impressed Martha more than any thing else was the fear my siblings and I have of our own father. Yes, a deep-down, gut wrenching fear.
~ A look at the argument that my parents are old and in their twilight years and I should "leave them in peace.
~ There will be more poems and letters from Alice.
~ And there will be lots and lots more. Thank you for reading LIP News.
TUESDAY NOTES
~ Well the law is on my mind today, because of course, there are oral arguments before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania tomorrow in the case of Holzinger v. Holzinger. The official letter to my attorney reads in part, This is to advise that the above-captioned appeal has been listed for argument as stated below: Panel: 8; Daily List Number: 13; Location: 17th Floor, 530 Walnut St., Philadelphia; Date: 3/2/2005; Time: 9:00 am."
~ My parents attorney, Lorrie McKinley, sent a letter to the judge on February 7, 2005, I do have a previous commitment in Federal Court at 12:30 p.m. on March 2, 2005. Would it be possible for this case to be moved up on the list to ensure that it will be concluded by then? She copied in my parents and my attorney.
~ There will be full coverage here on Thursday. Have I ever met my parents attorney (she is married to my first cousin)? Coming
.
~ The top story around most of the country today, including the Intell, Supreme Court strikes down death penalty for juveniles. This really makes you wonder how far humanity has come but I guess the old adage, better late than never, has to apply.
~ Finally, I said in earlier notes that a woman wrote me a letter and mailed it with a subscription form for LIP. I emailed her back advising her of the website. She in turn, emailed me this, Thanks for your email. I spent some time reading through your site. Im glad for you that you have a good counselor you can go to for reality checks. Because as children we assumed whatever was around us was normal, as in thats just the way life is.
Yes, she is absolutely correct. I also think she was referring to the following which has been on the front page of this site beneath a letter from a neighbor for a long time. I wanted to bring it up to the top one more time because they are exactly what she was talking about and they still amaze me:
Two quick examples of the level of dysfunction in my family follow. I am going to examine this in more detail later.
~ The week before I was going to write and publish the paper I sat with my therapist, Its not normal, right? I asked. People arent going to think its normal for one brother to molest both of his other brothers are they? People will realize this isnt a normal family wont they?
~ This Christmas my 56 year-old brother sent all of his siblings a computer disc of photos at Christmas time. There is one of him showing full frontal nudity. I called my therapist, This is just a reality check, I said, but this isnt normal is it? This doesnt happen in most families does it? Brothers and sisters dont send each other naked photographs of themselves do they?
MONDAY NOTES
~ A late Yuck and Stop Wasting My Time Award to Gil Smart for Mystery man and the strange silence of the values crowd, in the Sunday News. The opening sentence, Suppose I was a gay hooker. Oh, please. I dont care and I dont care about your beer gut, either. And yes, you ARE a freak. And a lousy writer. Now, leave me alone.
~ A Blatant Conflict of Interest And Do You Have Any Scruples Award? to Jack Brubaker for Whats TIF, and what does it mean to you? in Saturdays New Era and Dave Hennigan for Clyde: Decision on project will tax school board, in the Sunday News. The big rabbit, oops, I mean Clyde, says, There is opposition to the project by a vocal minority. Prove it, Mr. Editor.
