THANK YOU
On Saturday, September 25, 2004, I handed my son a credit card and said, Get me a website. He picked this template, put up the name, wrote the slogan, put up an under construction sign and said, There, nut job. Ill keep the card.
Its one of the smartest things I have ever done. If you cant tell, Im having a blast. But there is a very serious side to this site as well. As I stated here previously, I signed up and posted on the Lancaster Online Talkback Board for one reason the Cortney Fry murder. I wont dwell on it here because I would go on forever. I do, however, want District Attorney Donald Totaro and the Lancaster County Detectives to know that I will not stop. You may control the Lancaster Newspapers, but what are you going to do when a horde of real reporters descends on your town?
Some of you may be saying, Why does she care? She lives in Philly. Well, Lancaster is my home town and I plan to move back when my son graduates from college. Maybe I should say I planned to move back. My last two visits were shocking. I posted this on February 14 under Monday Notes: "What is going on in this town? The School District of Lancaster is being strong-armed by the Lancaster Newspapers. The police have an absurd and costly, brand new building and yet cant solve the Heather Marie Nunn murder or any of the bank robberies (unless the perpetrator sleeps in his car in a hotel parking lot). Downtown is a vacant disaster area. The Lancaster County Detectives cant solve the murder of a 19 year-old mother of a two-week old baby and a District Justice is apparently still presiding over cases during an investigation to see if he is breaking the law. Not even to mention the whole Glenn Wynn Robinson thing. Where does that stand? What the hell is going on in this town?"
I meant it. One of the things I remember vividly from my LIP days was that it was so easy to beat the Lancaster Newspapers because they were just so downright awful. Nothing has changed. The fact that there was only one article in only one of the papers regarding an investigative grand jury being empanelled for the second time in less than four years is simply incomprehensible. I will stop myself before I go on and on. There will be much more here on the grand jury, Donald Totaro and the Lancaster County Detectives, the Heather Marie Nunn murder, and of course, the Cortney Fry case.
Ill say one more thing on a heavy note and then I have a birthday to celebrate. As a reporter, I have had the hairs on the back of my neck raised several times. During the Lancaster Lynching story, which is coming soon, and while reading some articles on the Cortney Fry murder. On the Talkback Board, the names Lindy Biechler, Christy Mirack and Mary Ann Bagenstose would keep coming up. I didnt pay much attention. I hadnt lived in Lancaster and knew nothing about their cases. But then, with the whole grand jury thing, I thought maybe they would be part of the "investigation" (doubtful, seeing as their have been two prior grand juries in this county since their murders) so I very briefly pulled some information. And I saw something there that raised the hairs on the back of my neck as they have never been raised before. What is going on in this town?
Thank you for reading LIP News. There must be some people out there who want to write or have a story to tell. Please contact me. Thank you, Chris.
A LOOK BACK
~ One of the very first stories posted inside on this website was Clydes Coffee. I didnt know how to launch the word processing system then. It convinced the Talkbackers I was crazy but some of them figured it out. It is posted here.
~ The first day the under construction sign went down, How I Got Smart and a parody of Talkback was posted. It is still one of my personal favorites. It is here.
~ Of course, Clyde is a favorite topic. Dr. Fraud on Clyde is here. A Man on the Sidewalk on Clyde is here.
