DIPLOMATS SPEAK
A F&M student states, "I am now going to do reading for my classes."
(Please. How stupid do you think we are?)
'Disturbed Dip' writes, "The {police} dog must have thrown up on the porch."
(I just can't comment on something this ridiculous.)
'Concerned Dip' writes, "I am not proud to see my neighborhood viewed in a
terribly negative light on the front page of the newspaper regardless of who
was to blame. I know at the very least it should not raise property values,
in fact I think it would do the opposite."
(You are obviously an economics major and a damn good one at that.)
'Concerned' goes on to say, "I believe it is our DUTY AS CITIZENS to work
toegether and find common ground. This can be easily initiated by sending
an email to Disturbed Dip."
(I think I'll pass on Disturbed - he's still looking for the dog."
Another student writes, "Sorry, I thought common sense would dissuade you
from buying a house next to a college."
(?)
Another student entered the fray with the following explanation, "....young
people seeking release from the mental demands of college life."
(Must be all that reading.)
And goes on to add, "But college parties involving alcohol, like terrorism, can
never be eliminated."
(With that kind of insight and wisdom, I believe you have a future as a Republican
politician.)
Yest another student enters the fray with, "It is simply that they are trying to have a
good time and make the best of their college careers."
(Now, you know I get cranky from time to time - maybe the job, the mortgage,
the car payment, the laundry, the cooking, the cleaning - well scratch that -
being fifty, having a smart*** college son, the bills and Bush are the cause -
and let's not forget Clyde. However, dear student who reads, college is not
a 'career' unless you're Pluto. Are in your eighth year? Cry me a river.)
And perhaps, my personal favorite, a student comes back with, "....there is a rich
literature among scholars about the practicality of lowering the drinking age on
college and university campuses to 18."
(Yes, I bet that's a rich literature, by scholars no less! Is this what all the students
are reading that is causing so much stress in your lives?)
